Laskaris Nikolaos

Dr. Nikolaos Laskaris holds a Bachelor of Engineering with specialization (doctoral and postdoctoral research) in the application of non-destructive methods of analysis in archaeological materials and cultural heritage materials. His major research achievements are the improvement of the obsidian dating method, the redefinition of early seafaring in the Aegean as well as the mathematical modeling of the phenomenon of light attenuation in marbles used for the dating of monuments. He has over 55 scientific papers (chapters in collective volumes, scientific papers, conference proceedings), has over 200 citations (one of which from Science) and h-index 9. His research interests focus on applying new technologies to cultural heritage materials, preservation of documents, authenticity of artworks, dating, digitization, identification of pigments, etc. He is member of the Scientific Committee of all Panhellenic cultural heritage Digitization Conferences and member of the Hellenic division of ICOMOS. From 2011 until 2018 he taught at the Department of Sound and Musical Instruments Technology of TEI of Ionian Islands and from the winter Semester of Academic Year 2018-2019 he teaches as a University Scholar at the Department of Ethnomusicology of the Ionian University. He has delivered lectures on the preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage and new technologies in various seminars and events.
