Charitatos Konstantinos

He was born in Argostoli, Kefalonia and grew up in Athens, where he studied classical guitar at the Hellenic Conservatory of Music & Arts and later European Civilization at the Hellenic Open University. He worked as a music teacher at several conservatories of Athens, before committing to the composition of music.

He has composed music for over 80 theatrical productions, shifting from ancient Greek drama (e.g. “Plutus” directed by A. Lemos at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus) to avant garde repertoires (e.g. “The Patchy Parrot” by Ch. Strepkos at the Festival of Patras) and from “Hamlet” (K. Arzoglou) to “Nora” (D. Ioannou) and the “Beckett Machine” (N. Kamtsis). He has been awarded five first prizes in musical composition, in respective theatre contests, and has collaborated with almost all of the Municipal and Regional Theatres in Greece.

He has also composed the music for TV programmes of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, eight TV series and motion pictures. He has released five albums and has participated in many projects of other artists as a composer and orchestrator, while his songs have been performed by Tania Tsanaklidou, Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Pantelis Thalassinos, and others.

From 2003 to 2018 he was a tutor at the department of Sound and Musical Instruments Technology, of the Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands.
